Albert Dwumfour elected GJA President

On Friday, Albert Kwabena Dwumfur became president of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
Tobinco Group's general affairs manager and current national secretary has defeated Ghanaian Times editor and former association secretary Dave Agbenu and journalist and communications consultant Geyhart Edem Mensah.
Dwumfur received 233 votes, Edem Mensah received 181 votes, and Agbenu received 142 votes.
Of the 556 valid votes, 3 were rejected. Incumbent President Kofi Yeboah defeated AdomFM's Akwasi Agyemeng with 348 vs. 208 votes to maintain the Secretary-General's post.

GTV's Dominic Hlordzi has taken over the organization's secretary with 300 votes. He defeated rival Mary Mensah, the current Daily Graphics Foreign Affairs and Supplement Editor, who received 255 votes.
Mary Mensah, a longtime crime reporter for Daily Graphics, is a public relations manager at GJA and has served for two terms. GBC's Rebecca Ekpe became GJA's new public affairs officer after defeating Ghana News Agency's Caesar Abagali to Wa's office.

The Vice President and Accounting positions were the only non-alternate positions currently held by Linda Asante Agyei and Audrey Dekalu, respectively.
More than 800 members of the Ghana Journalists Association were scheduled to vote on Friday to elect their new leaders. However, a total of 556 votes were cast.
