Unpaid debt is still unpaid-fertilizer suppliers to the Minister of Finance

Fertilizer suppliers under the Seeding for Food and Jobs program are asking the Treasury Secretary to clarify claims for repayment of certain outstanding debt to the Ministry of Agriculture.

They question the claim that Ken Ofori Atta gave the Ministry of Agriculture 27.87 million cedis as part of the ministry's demand for 485.9 million cedis to support the program this year.

When a minister on the parliamentary floor was asked on Wednesday about the issue of financial cleanup at the Ministry to repay the large debt owed to partners and suppliers, his department repays the unpaid debt. He said he had allocated funds for it.

"Mr. speaker, at the end of 2021, an amount of 86.31 million cedis remained unpaid under the PFJ program. This amount is currently being remitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested payment of 485.9 million cedis under the PFJ program.

After that, 278.57 million crowns were sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "added Ofori Atta.

However, these debtors and suppliers have not received payments since 2021, and in some areas of the Ministry of Administration in 2020, suppliers are parliamentary rooms because these banks are thinking. After the minister announced in each bank said, it had harassed them. They (suppliers) redirected the payment to another account.

"I'm a little confused by the Minister of Finance's presentation, so I'd like a clear explanation. Where did the money he claimed to have issued go? A supplier rhetorically asked Joy News.

"How would we  still trolling the government when the finance ministry claims to have allocated an amount to repay unpaid debt ... because their presentations are inconsistent and banks are chasing us. , Encourage them to clarify the situation for us also their money "Added one of the suppliers. According to some entrepreneurs, management accounting checks have not paid their debt money.

Last month, JoyNews interviewed many fertilizer suppliers and confirmed that after supplying farmers with PFJ fertilizer, the government was still borrowing money from them. In another interview, farmers were reluctant to supply fertilizer, so farmers expressed concern about how fertilizer shortages are affecting agricultural businesses.

Planting for food and employment is the government's main agricultural campaign and consists of five implementation modules. The first module of PFJ (Crops) aims to ensure food security, immediate availability of selected food crops on the market, and job creation.
