Monkeypox Claims Military Officer’s Life

Spread the love A Military officer in the  Ghana Armed Forces (GAF)  has reportedly died of the  Monkeypox  disease at the Upper East Regional hospital. The soldier succumbed to the disease a couple of days after reporting to the hospital, according to a report carried by A1 Radio, a radio station based in Bolgatanga. The Upper East Regional Health Director,  Dr. Emmanuel Kofi Dzotsi  who confirmed that one person has died of the deadly disease explained that the victim reported at the hospital on Saturday July 23, 2022 and unfortunately died three days after. “All that I can say is that yes, we have recorded one case and the person has died. I will not be able to give further information because we will brief the media in the coming days,” he said. Gas Tanker Drivers To Embark On Sit-Down Strike From Monday

  Spread the love The  Gas Tanker Drivers Association (GTDA)   has served notice to commence a sit-down strike on Monday, August 1, 2022, across the country. In a press release dated July 29, 2022 the Association disclosed that the move is in consultation with relevant stakeholders in the industry such as  Ghana LPG Operators (GLIPGOA), LPG Marketers Association (LPGMC)  among stakeholders in the LPG Downstream industry. They catalogued a number of reasons for the sit-down strike which include poor working conditions of tanker drivers, abandoned LPG stations under construction since 2017 and unfair treatment of petroleum tanker drivers by BOST and NPA.   Nignaljal community School, in the Oti region under the Nkwanta north district appeals for teachers.  NIGNALJAL PETER, the chief of NIGNALJAL community, has expressed concern about not having teachers in the community. He is also seeking assistance to complete a school pavilion which was erected three months ago but not completed.   There were several failed attempt to get a school in the community, but luck shinned on them when the DCE came to their aid with the school pavilion, after they made a complain to him. The challenge now is there are no teachers to help their children with their studies. Nignaljal community School, also known as ‘Wui community School’, founded a private school in 2002 and was named after its founder, Nignaljal community school but the school has collapsed.     The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reaffirmed its commitment to support Ghana following the conclusion of its visit to the country. The discussions focused on improving fiscal balances in a sustainable way while protecting the vulnerable and poor; ensuring credibility of the monetary policy and exchange rate regimes; preserving financial sector stability, and designing reforms to enhance growth, create jobs, and strengthen governance.
